Some people seem to think you can’t install addition programs in gOS. Which is false, at least with beta 1, that is false. There are two ways, you can use apt-get from the command line, or by clicking add remove programs under Applications and then Administration. To get to a menu click run command and type in xterm. gOS is based on ubuntu 7.10, if you click My gOS and then About gOS, it will say it is powered by ubuntu.
If you want the programs included with ubuntu, including gnome, then type the below command in xterm, or go to add and remove software, and search for it.
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
For kubuntu, replace ubuntu with kubuntu.
If you want to use gdm instead of entrance for the login manager, select gdm when it asks which one you want to use, then run the below commands in a terminal, if you already rebooted and its failing to show the login manager, click ctrl alt f1, and login to the terminal, and do the below commands.
sudo /etc/init.d/entrance stop sudo update-rc.d -f entrance remove sudo reboot
Now gdm should work.
