Apple just announced on their site that OS X Snow Leopard will be out on the 28th. Looks like the rumors got something right finally. Wonder if amazon will ship it two days before the 28th so I get it on the 28th, I pre ordered it from amazon. I know you can get release date delivery when you pre order video games on amazon. Hmm so if I pre order directly from apple I’ll be guaranteed to get it Friday? I’ll give amazon a while to update their page, cause I’m to lazy to cancel it.

Hmm looks like on apple, a signature will be required. Good thing I didn’t click place my order, now I should re pre order on amazon. They claim to have an easy way to pre sign for your order. Bastards I don’t want to sign anything. How would I get it on August 28th when their shipping policy page says “Standard Shipping — This option is free on all qualifying products. Delivers within 6 business days after shipping.”, and I can’t change shipping method. I want them to ship it by mail, then I might not have to sign it.

Re pre ordered from amazon now nobody has to sign for package. Probably won’t get it till after 5 pm though, and not sure what day. Probably by September 1st.

Just emailed amazon asking if it’ll ship on the 28th or if I’ll get it on the 28th. Lots of morons canceling their amazon pre order, cause they must get it on Friday, and are to stupid to email amazon. Oh yeah and shipping is free for me, I selected free two day shipping, oh yeah I have prime. Might take em 12 hours to reply.

OS X Snow leopard is now $4 off on amazon, and I just got a gift card from amazon for around 17 bucks, way cheaper then apple now. Think the gift card was for the associate program or something. They have a pre order price guarantee so I shouldn’t have to cancel it and re order it at the new price.

Amazon says it is shipping soon, but the product page says not in stock till the 30th. I was only charged $9.22, thanks to my amazon gift card that amazon sent me, and the pre order price guarantee. Can’t get that price from apple, cheaper then the upgrade for recent macs. Guessing I’ll get it sometime next week.

Looks like a pretty cool device, only $199 on amazon, discount applied at checkout, saw it on the Today’s Deals page on amazon. I’m not going to buy it, waiting to see if apple releases a new iPod touch. That thing has GPS though. The OS it has on it looks like moblin, just went to their site, and says it has linux on it. Hmm it has a full size USB port and a mini size USB port.

Ahh it’s basically like a netbook, except done right, touch screen and looks like moblin to me. The product page, says it has Intel Atom processor and 512 MB of ram. Damn maybe I should buy that thing. Could buy it and then sell it. Newegg has the white one for around 400 bucks.

Wonder if there coming out with a new model or something. Guess you could plug a 1 TB external drive into that USB port, it won’t be very portable after you do that though, maybe get a 500 GB laptop drive and put in enclosure or buy one already in enclosure, and tape it on the back, now that’s more space then the touch has.

Around an hour left for sale price. Not going to buy it, saving my money.

Looks like you can get one of those small/slow netbook’s for $179 on mwave.com. I had a Acer Aspire One once, and the 8 GB SSD drive in it was slow as hell, so I sold the pile of shit on ebay. I personally won’t buy any netbooks again. Oh yeah you can get another 10 dollars off if you use the coupon “BK2SCHOOL”, that coupon works with anything over 100 dollars. Apple should make an iPod touch with a bigger screen, I’d buy one of those.

All those mac blogs, and mac rumor sites, made a big typo, August should of been September. Apple emailed my ass all of this info. They might announce on August 28th the release date of September 28th for Snow Leopard, if they feel like it. They also said they might delay the release till December 28th, just to piss all you hardcore ass fucking apple fanboys off.

Hmm maybe Mail won’t crash as much in Snow Leopard.

Lots of rumors that OS X Snow Leopard will come out on the 28th instead of sometime in September. Think I’ll pre order it, then I don’t have to remember to pre order it, and might get it early or on the day it comes out. Damn just pre ordered it on amazon, $31.52 damn tax.

Looks like apple is selling some old 5GB iPod’s, very first generation, only work with mac’s. You can read about it on macrumors.com, or tuaw.com. I might have to buy one, but I’ll wait a while, don’t want to get a newer generation iPod, I’d want the first generation one. Still waiting to see if apple announces a new iPod touch on September 9th, will probably buy one, if they do.

According to this post, they are working on removing it.

Just read on engadget.com that sony announced a new slim PS3 with a 120 GB drive for 300 bucks. They lowered the price of the fat 80 GB PS3 to 300 bucks, your better off waiting till the beginning of September to buy one. I probably won’t buy one, maybe I’ll get a 120 GB drive for xbox 360 though. You can pre order the new slim PS3 on amazon.

After switching to ethernet my mac can stay on for days. Wasn’t using built in wireless, was using a USB wireless N adapter, used two different ones, but they both use the same driver. Ethernet is faster anyways. Was on for almost four days, but had to reboot for an update.

Been having problems all day can’t check my email right now, works sometimes. Also use google notifier, which isn’t working right now, well the email part isn’t. Ahh well, maybe I should get a new email from someone else, or just use my site’s email. Hmm couldn’t forward gmail to it, since I can’t get to it. Hmm not working in firefox either, thanks google for unreliable email. Oh yeah only other thing I can think of is if my sister has a virus or trojan or something, mom said her world of warcraft account got hacked. Either they guessed her password, or something is on her computer. Have to use firefox to change settings on router, cause dd-wrt is a bitch, and doesn’t work with safari. Oh gmail page just loaded in firefox, well still loading… The picture hasn’t loaded yet. Ahh its fast now in firefox, guess safari can’t load google anymore, I’ve reset safari many times, and it fixes it temporally. Found this page, already using opendns, maybe that’s the problem. Wait firefox works though.

And the solution is to reboot cheap ass d-link gigabyte switch. Hmm maybe I should buy a new switch… But its cheaper to reboot it. Next time I’ll buy a trendnet gigabyte switch. I have a cheap ass router from them that still works. Doesn’t have gigabyte ethernet on it though.

Hmmm it could be ethernet cable, was stapling it to wall, and staple kind of went through it… Or maybe router needs a reboot too. Or maybe google is just slow.

Not loading once again, guessing it’s google, or my shitty ISP comcrap. Everything else loads fast.

Had to reboot for security update. While mac was rebooting I checked on my iPod touch, mail app would check email, but in safari on touch it didn’t load gmail. But gmail is loading now. Guess their IMAP servers are more reliable. Guess I’ll setup mail on mac.

Finally got sound working in everything, got it to work in aplay, but wasn’t working in vlc. Might be easier if your not using XFCE, but if your using xfce do the below as root. Also I’m using alsa, you can read on their wiki how to set that up.

Add the following to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:

options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig
 
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel

You might only need the first line though.

pacman -S gstreamer0.10-plugins

Type y when it asks “install whole content?”.

pacman -S audacious-plugins

That might actually be what fixed it. So you can try only installing that before gstreamer-plugins.

You also have to unmute stuff in alsamixer or you can use amixer. I unmuted “Master”, “Front”, “PCM”. You might be able to use the mixer thing in xfce.

Oh yeah and I got my video working at 1280×768, was trying to display at 1366×768, but doesn’t look right. I made a shell script with the below in it, and added it to xfce startup applications.

xrandr --newmode "1280x768_60.00"   79.50  1280 1344 1472 1664  768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA 1280x768_60.00
xrandr -s 1280x768

You can get correct modeline by doing “cvt 1280 768 60″, replace 60 with the refresh rate.

Got my 25 foot long ethernet cable from monoprice today. Used a staple gun to keep it off the floor, thinking I should of got a bigger cable though. Oh yeah thought I might of killed cable too, staple went through it. Now that’s a cheap quality cable right there.

Maybe my mac won’t freeze anymore. No idea though, only time will tell. And I bought a 25 foot long ethernet cable from monoprice.com incase USB wireless N is freezing mac. Gigabyte speeds to linkstation will be nice though. Internet seems faster after update, or at least my site seems to load faster. Oh yeah and for some reason update deleted my profile for my wireless USB card, in the USBWirelessUtility, that comes with rt2870 driver.

Hmm less then 200 bucks for Buffalo Technology LS-CH1.0TL 1TB LinkStation on amazon. One review says you don’t get the right item. You can return it though anyways. Might be worth buying to backup other linkstation. When I bought mine I ordered from buy.com. Nice same price on buy.com, I’d buy from buy.com over amazon, no tax from buy.com for me.

Mac froze again, updated didn’t fix my freezing. Haven’t gotten ethernet cable yet.

Not sure why, but it seems to reboot itself at least once a day. Found this post on google, one person says to take it back to store, still works though, after its done rebooting itself. Can’t send it back to amazon anyways, will wait till it dies to send to Nokia. Last time I looked for firmware update, there wasn’t one. Not sure if there is one yet or not.

No new firmware, had to open parallels just to check, thanks to Nokia for having no mac firmware updater. Could go to their site and search, but to lazy to take battery out and type in number.

Damn I figured it wasn’t cause its shared hosting, didn’t bother reading TOS. Was looking at their forum and somebody was asking about some hentai site.

As long as it’s legal. I can’t read the language, so I don’t know, but whatever is legal under US law is allowed on our servers.

Sweet. That means I can post nasty pics. As long as its legal. Haha, the only problem with shared hosting allowing porn, is some filters might ban the IP of the server, so the non porno sites might not be viewable if someone is using a lame ass filter. Hmm I think I can get dedicated IP address, or do I have to get a VPS for that? $2 per month for dedicated IP from A Small Orange.

I’d only get dedicated IP if I cared about people not being able to access my site do to porn on the server, or if I needed SSL. Maybe my uncle will switch, don’t think godaddy allows porn, godaddy is a hardcore over selling bitch.

Even if godaddy allows porn, they’d disable your site for some other reason, like using to many resources. And A Small Orange might do the same, if its just static html and some nasty pics, you should be fine, but you might want a VPS if you want to do more.

Oh yeah and it looks like hentai is legal in the US. To lazy to go lookup the law and crap, you can do that yourself.

I downloaded the trial of Best Profiles a while ago, so I could have bluetooth turned off when selecting silent or outdoor. Didn’t see anything when customizing using the built in profile manager to set bluetooth on or off. The best part is the settings are still there after the trial, so no need to buy it, when it still works. Wonder if I can delete it, and if the settings would still be there. I’ll just keep it installed. Wasn’t planning on buying it, if it stopped working anyways, rather save money and disable bluetooth manually, but doesn’t look like I have to. Oh yeah I have a Nokia E63-2.
