Back to safari
I guess I like speed more then a stable browser. Firefox 3.5 didn’t crash, but it is noticeably slower then Safari 4, at least for me.

Mozilla released Firefox 3.5 today, hopefully it is more stable then Safari. Usually safari crashes at least once a day. Usually I think safari crashes on pages with a lot of javascript or something. Seems like it anyways, hopefully firefox 3.5 doesn’t have that problem. Firefox has lots of add ons too.
Nice guess the Ovi store opened today but doesn’t work. Installing the app on my phone, according to their blog, people using the app on their phone can connect. I get blank page in browser. Hmm maybe the store works in firefox, maybe it isn’t compatible with Safari, that’s nice if that’s the case… Nice nokia, your store doesn’t work in safari. Real nice. Can’t use it on phone, because it can’t find my router, says “No wlan found”. Whatever. Ahh it works on phone now… After installing the store app you have to reboot. Guess phone wasn’t started all the way yet.
Hmm the washigntonpost article says you can’t login with existing account, I can.
Works in Safari after clearing cache.
Looks like a useless store, at least for me. There’s no content for Nokia E63.
Nokia Ovi Store Launch Is A Complete Disaster – washingtonpost.com
Update
I clicked the pocket express banner thing on the store homepage, and says “Sorry, this item is no longer available.”. Haha this store blows. I can only look at stuff if I’m not logged in, otherwise it hides everything, because nothing is compatible with my Nokia E63.
Update
It works now. I can actually see apps when logged in now. Haven’t downloaded anything yet.
Got my Trendnet TEW-652BRP today. Haven’t had any problems with it yet, updated the firmware, which adds the ability to set static IPS to different MAC addresses. Well had one problem, put my mac’s MAC address in wrong, so I had no internet, but setting the IP manually let me get to router’s config, took a while to figure that out. Thought I put in everything right. Thought MAC address filtering made it so people couldn’t access router at all, it should disconnect not allowed MAC addresses. Not sure if all routers let you get to config page if the MAC isn’t allowed, maybe its a setting, you can probably disable router page from all wireless users. Oh yeah it seems to be smaller then the D-Link router it replaced, not much smaller though. Oh yeah you have to use firefox to update firmware, didn’t work in Safari, didn’t even seem to send the firmware using Safari, maybe it works in older Safari. Still using Safari 4 beta. The login seems to use some javascript encryption thing too, so don’t bother telling 1password to remember password, won’t work. Hmm guess you can’t tell it to not allow wireless clients to access router config. Pretty sure you can with DD-WRT, don’t think that works with this router, don’t care. Trendnet’s firmware seems to be stable, at least so far. Oh yeah the firmware tells you the router uptime too, just like DD-WRT, D-Link didn’t say that.
Was wondering why I’ve been getting ads like the above, so I opened firefox, and that x has some javascript “javascript:nop();”, well I finally got an ad like that in firefox, except it actually displayed the ad, rather then a x, its an ad with javascript, with little arrow things to scroll through em. Looks like google either needs to update there code, or apple needs to fix Safari’s 4 javascript engine, or maybe both. Well most people that visit this site probably aren’t using Safari 4 beta, so it doesn’t really matter.
Using the Camifox theme for Firefox, I can actually stand looking at Firefox now. This theme looks much better then the default theme on OS X. I don’t know why mozilla tried to make Firefox look like Safari. I don’t want Firefox to look like Safari, I want it to look like Firefox, not an ugly Safari. This should be made the default theme.
We set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in 24 hours. With your help we reached 8,002,530 downloads.
You are now part of a World Record and the proud owner of the best version of Firefox yet!
Don’t forget to download your very own certificate for helping set a Guinness World Record.
Just got that email.
Not sure what the problem is, but I’m not going to deal with it. Now using Safari. Not sure if its a problem with the unofficial build, or firefox in general. Css didn’t seem to be loading correctly, so some sites looked screwed up. Ahh well I don’t care about firefox that much. I’ll take stability over speed.
Looks like they went over their goal, now we just have to wait and see if they make it into the Guinness World Records. I can proudly say I helped them accomplish a world record, if they make it.

According to SunSpider, safari is 1.03x slower then firefox 3. You can see the results below. Or you can go directly to the safari url, or the firefox url.
Reading comments on macrumors, says safari 4 is faster, but safari 4 hasn’t been released yet, so I don’t care. Just installed a safari theme, and an add on called fission, which makes the address bar like safari’s. Might switch back to safari when safari 4 is released. I don’t see any benefits to using safari now, that I’ve installed a new theme, and add on, that make it look nicer.

There’s the mac download link, looks the same as RC3 to me. Maybe they just deleted rc3 from the file name.
MD5 (/Volumes/data/mac_downloads/Firefox 3.0.dmg) = 27ff7989db6a206cdfc8989aca9f9283 MD5 (/Volumes/data/mac_downloads/Firefox 3.0 RC 3.dmg) = 27ff7989db6a206cdfc8989aca9f9283 sha1sum 7916e5455d6ce1963dbc5235fa72f2cb3a9644f2 /Volumes/data/mac_downloads/Firefox 3.0.dmg 7916e5455d6ce1963dbc5235fa72f2cb3a9644f2 /Volumes/data/mac_downloads/Firefox 3.0 RC 3.dmg
Nice, it looks like I already had it. If you have RC3, don’t bother with 3.0 final, same thing.
Looks like you’ll have to wait 40 minutes for the real download link. Spreadfirefox.com is having some problems though, looks like its getting overloaded.
Once its released, you can get it from http://mozilla.isohunt.com/.

Firefox seems a lot faster at browsing sites, but I’m not really sure if it has anything to do with javascript, for the reason firefox is faster. Now I’m going to switch back to firefox. I don’t mind testing a beta.
The test was done with SunSpider.

There is a build of the open source version of Virtual Box available here for download. Seems to work fine, had to change one setting as that site states “If you can’t boot your guest OS, try PIIX3 IDE controller setting.”. You can also download it from here.
Never knew how bad this site looked in IE7. Don’t care, it looks fine in safari and firefox and opera too. Its functional in IE7, the colors aren’t the correct colors though.
Update
Fixed it, only because it was an easy fix. Might not look right in IE6 though.
Update
Beta 3 of Virtual Box for OS X is available on their site.
I got OS X leopard yesterday, and my uncle wasn’t lying, when he said Safari is faster then firefox. I made an apple script to do most of the work for me, but not 100% automatic. Now I can mess around with the new features. I setup spaces, you can assign applications to the spaces to. I’ll upload the apple script eventually. Maybe in a week or two. Or maybe my uncle will post it on his blog. Hmm Gimp 2.4 is released. Wait only the 2.4 RC3 is available for OS X, and I already have RC3. Could compile it myself, but I don’t want to.
Easter Egg
Just think if you were on a network with thousands of pcs, sharing their computer… I would probably fall off my chair.
Pretty Box
Why didn’t I just pirate OS X Leopard?
They took the time to put that on their box, non like microsoft.
Install
By the time I was done taking a dump, it was almost done. I didn’t take a picture of it when it was almost done though, only took two pictures of it checking the dvd, one with the flash on, and the other off.
Can’t wait until firefox 3.0 is released, its a lot faster then the stable version. Don’t want to loose any data, so I probably won’t be running the unstable fast version. Oh yeah and fireftp, doesn’t work with it, but no script does.
Download it at your own risk! I take no responsibility for any data you loose, neither does mozilla. Now I need to backup my profile, so I can run the alpha again.
Looks like I’ll be testing this, until its stable. I can’t provide any pictures or videos on how fast, and sexy the mac version is, you’ll just have to download the mac alpha yourself. Make sure you backup your profile though. Its under yourname/Library/Application Support/Firefox.
Hmm might of just found a bug, sort of, doesn’t really effect anything, the sidebar just looks funny, when scrolling.
I’ll provide one screenshot, of the download manager.

One warning though, stuff seems to open to fast, like right clicking an image, and clicking properties, or even copying and pasting, it’s way to fast. Hopefully the stable release will fix this issue.
Hmm not sure what a cooksucker is, firefox says its spelled wrong though.
That’s where I saw the word cooksucker, haven’t seen it before, I guess I don’t chat to 14 year old scammers. Hmm scammer and scammers are both spelled wrong according to firefox.
I use to get some error when installing any extension, think it was error 201, or something. I uninstalled 1passwd, while firefox was running, so it didn’t remove the extension. So I deleted everything in the extension folder, and I deleted “extensions.rdf”. Both can be found in Library Applications Support Firefox. Needed to install DownThemAll, so hopefully I can resume downloads, after waking my iBook up.
Found this lame site, very easy to bypass. All you have to do is change your user agent. The owner of that site can kiss my ass.
You can also send them nothing for your user agent, if they block everybody with nothing as their user agent, they will be blocking IE users too.
User Agent Switcher (Won’t install on my iBook, firefox might be messed up.)
Adblock Plus
You can block ads other ways too, without using Adblock Plus, you could block ads before Adblock Plus existed, forgot the name of the program. Adblock Plus just makes it easier. I’m sure you could block ads before firefox existed.

On the first command still. You can find the xdelta files here. You have to have the 3.4a iso already though.
Found that from the release post. They didn’t say what all those commands did, so I had no idea, that I could use them to make a new iso. Farther down in the thread it says what it does. You can download those files from some of the other mirrors too, just click the xdelta folder. Still takes some time though, just not as long as downloading the iso again. Unless you have a really slow hard drive, then it might not matter.
Update
Burning the iso right now.
Update
The upgrade uninstalled everything. Which really sucks, now I have to reinstall mythtv. Now I Know not to upgrade. I don’t think it deleted the database files, hopefully it didn’t. Don’t want to re setup mythtv too. I think the upgrade was worth it though, now opening tabs in firefox doesn’t have an annoying delay.
