No iPod touch 3.0 firmware yet
Damn it I should of slept longer, but my arm was hurting. Read on tuaw.com that 3.0 might be released at 10 am.

It’ll only cost $29 for Leopard users. I would of payed more then $29 though. I’ll also be getting the 3.0 firmware for my touch on June 17th when it comes out. MacBook Pros got cheaper, and faster.
Said they only had one left, like the fact that you can use any headphones you want with it. But the headphones they come with will probably work fine for me, if not I’ll probably buy some really expensive in ear headphones. I think the iPod touch 2G has built in bluetooth, Apple said you’d be able to enable it in firmware 3.0. I’m waiting for the next iPod touch though. Might need an 8 GB microSDHC card soon. I like being an ass and buying the last one in stock, looks like they’ll have more on the 6th. Wonder if there’s anything else I want/don’t need that only has one left in stock. Hmm maybe I should just get the fasted 4 GB microSDHC card I can get… The cheap one I have is kind of slow. But works, so not a big deal. Might take all night though to copy all the music I selected to it.
Sister has been having problems staying connected, not sure why. Funny now DHCP reservations works, with the latest trendnet firmware it wasn’t working. The D-Link firmware has a lot more features anyways. Oh yeah my phone can connect to it again, wasn’t connecting to trendnet router with trendnet firmware, it use to, but all the sudden stopped. All you need to do is use a hex editor and modify the last line of the D-Link firmware to match the last line of the trendnet’s firmware. I used HexEdit, free mac hex editor.
Basically you need to change “AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02″ in D-Link firmware to “AP81-AR9130-RT-080609-05″.
Got my Trendnet TEW-652BRP today. Haven’t had any problems with it yet, updated the firmware, which adds the ability to set static IPS to different MAC addresses. Well had one problem, put my mac’s MAC address in wrong, so I had no internet, but setting the IP manually let me get to router’s config, took a while to figure that out. Thought I put in everything right. Thought MAC address filtering made it so people couldn’t access router at all, it should disconnect not allowed MAC addresses. Not sure if all routers let you get to config page if the MAC isn’t allowed, maybe its a setting, you can probably disable router page from all wireless users. Oh yeah it seems to be smaller then the D-Link router it replaced, not much smaller though. Oh yeah you have to use firefox to update firmware, didn’t work in Safari, didn’t even seem to send the firmware using Safari, maybe it works in older Safari. Still using Safari 4 beta. The login seems to use some javascript encryption thing too, so don’t bother telling 1password to remember password, won’t work. Hmm guess you can’t tell it to not allow wireless clients to access router config. Pretty sure you can with DD-WRT, don’t think that works with this router, don’t care. Trendnet’s firmware seems to be stable, at least so far. Oh yeah the firmware tells you the router uptime too, just like DD-WRT, D-Link didn’t say that.
Damn D-Link 615 router isn’t very stable. Sometimes iPod touch will disconnect mac from internet. Just rebooted it and changed the channel, now Airfoil seems to be working right. I got it for $29.99 from compusa.com. Hmm wonder if this router lets you assign IPs to different mac addresses, like D-Link. Hopefully it does. Read you can put D-Link firmware on it.
Update
Not on sale anymore. Good thing I’m on their mailing list, signed up for it sometime ago, probably when entering a sweepstake from em.
Damn thing crashed, it can’t handle to much local network traffic, otherwise it’ll crap out. At least revision A. Mom’s computer was copying an almost 4 GB file to it from linkstation, and then I was trying to play on xbox live, and got started lagging like hell, and then disconnected, went upstairs and the file transfer crapped out too. Had to reboot the POS. Won’t be buying any $40 wireless N routers again. Wouldn’t buy a linksys as their support sucks ass, if you ever have to deal with em. I had a wireless G game adapter made by em, updated firmware, and then it no longer worked, their shitty update broke it. And even if I sent it back under warranty, I doubt I’d have any luck getting a working one. The apple airport extreme might be the best wireless N router.
No point in buying a new router yet. Will just wait for her computer to finish copying the file before trying to do anything that uses a lot of bandwidth.
Finally apple released the new firmware for the iPod touch and iPhone, hmm can’t seem to remember what the bugs were or are, downloading the newer version now though. Haven’t really been using my iPod touch all that much lately, maybe to read some news, and check email. Perhaps those bugs, that I can’t think of, have been fixed.

Hmm I wonder if comcast, will increase the price of their internet. Hmm we might have to switch to dial up, if it goes over $50 a month. Comcast already has a hidden bandwidth limit, I suppose they might have different plans soon, with different bandwidth limits, be bad news for those who use peer to peer applications. Or rapidshare.
Hmm the uptime for my computer is over 1 day, and only 3.80 GB gigs of in bandwidth, and 4.95 gigs of out bandwidth. Oh yeah iStat menus tells me all that info.
That’s only for my computer though, not sure what the total bandwidth used is.
Ahh for this month so far, the router says 117819 MB, which is about 115 GB for incoming bandwidth. Outing bandwidth is 24352 MB, which is about 24 GB.
Looks like we would be paying a lot of money, if they start doing that.
In June the incoming bandwidth was 59946 MB, which is about 58 GB. Outgoing was 5435 MB, which is around 5 GB.
Got to love the custom DD-WRT firmware.
Looks like for a limited time you can get a Everex CloudBook for $299. One review says installing windows make it better, that is a false comment, installing windows on a linux laptop, defeats the purpose of the linux laptop. I probably wouldn’t keep the pre installed OS on it, I’d put a better linux distro on it. I won’t be buying one though, don’t need one, iPod touch does enough for my portable needs.
I can’t comment on how well its made or anything, I don’t know if its a good buy, the Asus EEE PC’S, I think have better reviews, and are more popular, so probably getting an Asus EEE PC, would be a better buy, though installing windows on any linux device, should void the warranty, because windows suck, face it, and get over your fucking windows.
Though the best buy would be an iPod touch, because it has a touch screen, and its only $299, and its made by apple, and the 2.0 firmware is buggy, and apple might have a price drop and new products soon, so you might feel ripped off.
Just bought a new hard drive for my mac mini, bought it on ebay, free shipping and no tax. Bought a NEW Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 HTS722016K9SA00 Hard Drive. Argh I’m an idiot, should of bought it directly from buy.com, rather then their ebay store. Would of saved $10, if I payed by google checkout. Guess I’ll buy some crucial ram directly from buy.com, and save $10. Need the $10 in July, for the iPod touch 2.0 firmware. Oh yeah I also bought an Iron Man shirt on amazon.
Why does paypal and google charge $1.00? Now I only have $9.58, not enough for the update. Damn you paypal and google.
My uncle just got his first wii, he accidentally ordered two on ebay. I remember getting that error when I first tried to connect to the internet with my wii. The first thing is obviously to go to nintendo.com and search for it, yet there “help” doesn’t help or fix anything.
The solution for me and my uncle was to set a static ip address on the wii, also set a static dns server, and change the mtu to 1400. Might have something to do with the ddwrt firmware. For the dns server, you can probably put in your routers ip address, 192.168.1.1, for me. Then assign it an ip that isn’t in use like 192.168.1.126. The gateway is the address of the router, so for me 192.168.1.1.
Took longer then 3 days as always from newegg. Didn’t get it until 8 pm tonight. Burning dvds doesn’t seem any slower then when it was internal, reading dvds seems a little slower. Doesn’t matter because my mac can read dvds too. I burned ubuntu 7.10 64 bit to a dvd, because I have no cds, and I wanted to test it. The dvd booted fine on the internal drive, but not on the external drive, don’t really care, bought the enclosure for burning dvds.
The system profiler says the below:
MAD DOG MD-16XDVD9A2:
Firmware Revision: 1.F0
Interconnect: USB
Burn Support: Yes (Generic Drive Support)
Profile Path: None
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
Settings from DD-WRT v23 SP2 aren’t compatible with v24 RC5, good thing I backed up my settings. Don’t think I’ll upgrade to v24 when its stable, as I don’t want to re enter all my settings. If you upgrade make sure you tell the firmware upgrade thing to reset to the default settings. Then you will have to re enter your settings, I tried restoring the settings on v24, but that didn’t work, I had to reset the router, and then downgrade to v23 SP2.
Not recommended, as it won’t fix anything. I gave up on the wga54g, I don’t think there is a fix.
Instructions that may or may not work:
Load the new firmware.
After thats done reset it:
1] Press and hold the reset button for 30 sec.
2] Unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for another 30 sec.
3] Then, plug back the power keep holding down the reset button for 30sec.
4] Release the reset button.
5] Unplug it again and plug it back in
Now reconfigure it after you get all settings right try clicking connect. If it doesn’t work then unplug it and plug it back in. May need to unplug it and plug it back in more then once.
If the above doesn’t work try reseting your firmware this way
Click start run then type in cmd then type in:
tftp -i 192.168.1.250 PUT wga54g_1.06_US_code.img
With that ftp command you may need to specify the mode. Not using windows right now so I don’t know.
For linux you’d do:
tftp -m binary 192.168.1.250 -c put wga54g_1.06_US_code.img
Note: it may seem like its working, but then once you unplug it and back in, it probably won’t work again. You could repeat the steps, if you can’t go to the ip address, then you can use tftp to flash it again.
I originally posted those instructions here.
I changed it from Auto to 1500, which seems to have made the internet faster. Was getting an MTU error on xbox live, haven’t tried it again yet. Should work now. Probably the latest firmware from dd-wrt doesn’t give the best setting for the MTU. So setting it to manual and leaving the default number it has in fixes it. Hopefully xbox live works now.
Update
Xbox live still doesn’t work, not sure why. Going to dd-wrt’s site now to look for a solution.
Update
Just going to reload the old firmware on it. Neither google or their site works, not going to waste all my time looking. Won’t be upgrading the firmware after I get it working again.
Update
Don’t want to reconfigure it, can’t restore the settings from the newer dd-wrt firmware on the older firmware. Oh well, guess I’ll have to figure out some other way to fix it.
Update:
The MTU setting wasn’t the problem, the problem was a crappy signal. So I changed the xmit power or whatever its called to 40. Now it connects fine.
Well I upgraded the firmware on my router, to the dd-wrt sp2, wasn’t using any sp’s before. I had to reconfigure it, as I couldn’t login. I think somebody might of been stealing our internet, so I changed the wep key too. Also there’s only two mac addresses on the list now, to allow. People are watching t.v, so I can’t setup the xbox. The xbox isn’t on the list though. It will be if I ever get to use the t.v.
I guess it isn’t broken, haven’t messed with it for a while. But the reason I never got it to work before, is because my xbox is messed up, and will only work with my old game adapter. My xbox 360 works with the WGA54G game adapter, the game adapter has the newest firmware too, I already had the settings plugged in. To get my computer to work with it, all I had to do was, disable mac address filtering. If its not working, its probably because you don’t have the right mac addresses. After adding my computer’s ethernet mac address, and enabling the filtering again, it connected without a problem. My original xbox, can’t connected by ethernet to router, or any other game adapter, which really sucks. Basically microsoft’s software on it screwed up. I don’t know how to flash the bios, I think you need a modchip, which I don’t have. Also I would only want to flash the bios on the xbox, to see if the bios is messed up, or re install the update somehow, the update that you get from xbox live, or a game cd, that automatically installs.

I downloaded the new firmware for the 360, yet it still works. I haven’t gotten that error message that some people have, though if it did break, its under warranty.
