Got google voice finally!

July 9th, 2009 admin Comments off

Google finally sent me invite to google voice! You can send text messages with it too, which is cool. Still messing with it, so not much to say yet.

Update
I love t-mobile and myfaves.. Found this blog post on google. Instead of showing caller’s phone number, show your google voice number, and add google voice number to myfaves.. and then you get unlimited calling! Thanks google and t-mobile, hopefully it still works.

I need internet plan, so I can use the mobile interface, if I ever leave house…

Hmm wonder if they delete barely used accounts… I use the SMS somewhat, not very much though.

Hmm so MSI Nettop 100 is 64bit capable?

July 5th, 2009 admin 4 comments

The MSI Nettop 100 has an intel atom 330 processor, searched google for “is intel atom 330 64 bit”, and a forum said that if “cat /proc/cpuinfo” has the Lm flag, then it does 64bit. Now downloading xubuntu 64 bit version to see if it works. Intel’s site says it is 64 bit too.

Output of cat /proc/cpuinfo below.

Got GE 28127FE2 Cell Fusionâ„¢ Cordless Phone

June 27th, 2009 admin Comments off

Was only 50 bucks at office depot, went to local store, 100 bucks online. Seems to work fine, still waiting for it to charge 16 hours. Finally setup my Linksys VOIP SPA2102 SIP ATA Adapter, using vitelity, they say you need to open ports, but I don’t. Behind two routers, to lazy to open ports on two routers. At first I could only make calls, then went to support thing on their site, and did their setup wizard, and it changed some settings on their server or something. Cool I can still send txt messages using Phone Plugins on mac while its connected to the cell fusion thing. That program is only 10 bucks, I already bought it, never tried the FoneLink program, my phone isn’t on the supported phones list for it, but it is for Phone Plugins… And Phone Plugins is a lot cheaper. Hmm doesn’t seem to always work while its connected to cell fusion, so have to disable bluetooth and then enable it.

Magic Jack still doesn’t have my area code…

June 10th, 2009 admin Comments off

magic_jack_no_numbers

Looks like now they have no area codes available in WA. They let you change your number once for free, so I keep checking to see if a local number is available, have some 253 number, not my area code. No phone hooked up to it, nor is the computer turned on that its plugged into. Using virtualbox in ubuntu on a MSI Nettop 100, to run their bogus software. Don’t want to keep mac on 24/7, guess I could, not sure how stable the mac software is though. Not sure why I see ads on tv, since they don’t even offer area codes in my state anymore. Oh yeah I emailed them asking when my area code would be available, below is their response. Oh yeah to find their email, you have to search google, it is Dan@magicjack.com.

We apologize that your area code is not represented right now and we
are doing our best to add as many area codes as possible.
Sorry for the vague reply, but we will keep updating our lists as
fast as we can. Thank you.

Looks like their running out of numbers, and not adding anymore. Ahh well it was only around $30 on ebay. I should sell that linksys phone adapter I bought that I don’t need, was going to use it with vitelity, but changed my mind. Oh yeah you will be able to port a number to them “sometime in 2009″. Guess you don’t really need a local number, but then people that use the shitty local service, will get charged when calling you.

Instead of everyone switching to magic jack, how about get a skype phone adapter, both require your computer to be on 24/7, difference is skype is free. If everyone was using skype, you wouldn’t need to pay anything, its free to call skype people from skype. Then they’d probably start charging for it. Or pay more and get something that doesn’t need your computer.

How I make $0 per month online

June 10th, 2009 admin Comments off

Looking at spam comments, some moron keeps posting a comment, about how they make money, yeah by scamming morons probably. Me I make $0 per month by doing absolutely nothing other then sitting on my fat ass. Google ads doesn’t work btw, you have to get $100 to get check, and your site has to have better content then this shitty site. And amazon’s associate program doesn’t work all that good either, and neither does shareasale. So I’m loosing money every time I renew this domain or pay for hosting. Now go take your shitty spam comments and shove it up your fucking ass. Maybe when hosting expires I won’t pay bill, keep the domain for sure though.

Oh yeah forgot to say, their shitty site is .no-ip.net or whatever. Sure you could get their IP, would be funny if their using windows. Wait not on no-ip.info anymore, they probably learned their lesson, dumbass.

Doesn’t look like they want any calls their whoise info is protected. Their host is rathost.net, maybe they allow scam sites.

Ahh their IP is owned by iWeb Technologies Inc. That proves it is an automated post spam comment, guess they aren’t using a zombie computer, they rather pay to do their dirty business. Hmm do those guys allow spam? Probably, so no point in complaining to em.

Amod ABG 108 Bluetooth GPS Receiver works

May 3rd, 2009 admin Comments off

A while ago I bought a Amod ABG 108 Bluetooth GPS Receiver to use with my Nokia E63. Doesn’t work in basement, but wasn’t expecting it too, don’t need it in basement, probably don’t need it at all, but who cares. Works upstairs, but works the best outside or in a moving vehicle. Need to read manual on how to use built in Maps app. Can’t use Google Maps, as I don’t have internet plan… Hmm should buy a stereo blue-tooth headset, as my phone supports that, and it does work pretty good for music. Hmm wonder if the blue-tooth thing I have is stereo. Doubt it is, only one ear piece, think you need two for it to be true stereo. Its mainly for talking, got it to use with mac, but don’t really use it. Don’t care about the talking part, probably rather have blue-tooth without the talking part, don’t need to talk to anybody on my cell phone or in person.

Glad I didn’t buy the Nokia GPS Receiver. Rather pay less then $30, then $100 or more. Nokia sells it for $149.99. I guess since it has the word “Nokia” on it, it can be priced at $149.99.

Forgot how skinny iPod touch is

April 27th, 2009 admin Comments off

There’s a pic of iPod touch on top of my new Nokia E63, as you can see the iPod touch is skinnier. The case I have for iPod touch makes it look fatter then it really is.

Bought Nokia E63-2

April 21st, 2009 admin Comments off

Couldn’t resist the price of $199 on sale today from amazon. Unlocked so can use with t-mobile, or any other provider. Can get apps for it, VOIP would probably work on it, if I needed it, which I don’t. Maybe skype, its free, or gizmo which is free too. It has GPS too, or it says it does, one review says it doesn’t. Other review says no warranty, but title says otherwise… Good thing I didn’t buy electric bike… Otherwise I’d have to file for bankruptcy. Haha. Oh yeah and don’t like how paypal works when hooked up to bank account, takes long ass time for anything to show up in bank when it “instantly” takes out money. Only have it hooked up to bank, so I can get money from paypal into bank account. Debit card shows it as pending right away, at least it shows up, easier to keep track of money. Keeping track in head isn’t exact, at least not for me. Good thing amazon doesn’t use paypal.

Forgot about fring, it can do skype and other stuff too. Don’t see skype for Nokia E63-2 on their download page, found on google that there’s some lite java version. Rather use fring, its probably native.

Old bike

April 19th, 2009 admin Comments off

I got a mountain bike a long time ago for free, was given to me by one of my Uncle’s, the one on my dad’s side. Went to walmart and got helmet and tire pump. Took it for a short ride, easy to go down hills, was to weak to ride it all the way up the hill. The chain fell off on the way up the hill too. If I had an electric bike I probably would of made it all the way up, not really a steep hill, it goes in a fucking circle, so if you walk your bike up, don’t bother going in the circle, unless your to weak to pick bike up. Rather carry it up some short steep hills then walk around a fucking circle. Don’t have to carry it much, just a little anyways. Oh yeah saw one of those e-zip bikes at the wlmart we went to, we didn’t go to the same one as yesterday. They had one for $399, $350 on their site, so guessing if they had the $299 one, it’d be $350 at the store. Probably won’t bother getting electric bike, one reason being is they weigh a lot, so if you have to peddle you won’t be able to go very far without getting exhausted. I have bad judgment, so I’d end up pedaling it a lot probably, and I’d need two batteries cause I’m a fat ass. The batteries are $129.99 on amazon.

Oh yeah will probably take my current bike to shop and have em fix it up, or see if they think I should just buy new one. Bicycle Butler is where I’ll take it, says on their site they can rebuild em, build you a custom bike, looks like they pretty much do everything that can be done to bike. Wonder if they can turn it into an electric bike, haha. It’d probably be cheaper, I think you can buy electric bike kits. Hmm bikes don’t really look that hard to work on, maybe I should just buy parts myself, and do it all myself, then I’ll have something to do all day, other then sitting on ass. Wait I can sit on ass while I very slowly work on it, take about 2 hours to remove one bolt… haha, better off taking it to shop, it’d take me to long, I’d be to busy staring at it. Hmm did google search for “electric bike kit”, looks like those kits cost more then $299.

Could just have two bikes, one electric and one non electric, only ride electric when I want to go up a hill. Hmm wonder if it’d make it up a big hill without pedaling. Probably not, so I’d be going in reverse, haha. Oh yeah and I wonder if you can modify one of those e-zips to have 4 or more batteries, probably 8 would be good, would be expensive though to do that, maybe buy another battery every month. Then maybe it’d make it up a big hill. Probably be cheaper just to save money and buy more expensive electric bike if I wanted 8 batteries…

Hmm wonder if any of those e-zip scooters can have two batteries. Think I rather have scooter and non electric bike. And those aren’t the big scooters that you need license to drive.

Got Nintendo DSi

April 7th, 2009 admin Comments off

Got my Nintendo DSi that I pre ordered from amazon today. The screen is bigger and brighter and looks better, just put a game in, and you should notice right away. It connects to my router, can’t play any games online though, cause router isn’t setup as WEP. Though I could go outside or something and borrow somebody’s internet if I really wanted too. The browser works alright, don’t really need it, iPod touch’s browser is better. I didn’t use any of my free 1,000 points yet. Oh yeah and my M3 Simply doesn’t work with it, it just says no game inserted.

Click read the rest of this entry to see pics taken with the DSi’s camera and comparison pics.

Upgraded Acer Aspire One

March 26th, 2009 admin 2 comments
From Inside Acer Aspire One

Upgraded the ram in my Acer Aspire One to 1 GB, voided the warranty doing so too. Used an old stick of ram from mac mini, upgraded that a long time ago. Just finally decided to upgrade Acer Aspire One. Touchpad no longer works, because I’m not skilled enough to connect it. Don’t care, can use external mouse. Need to replace SSD with a real hd or better SSD though. The SSD in it really sucks ass and slows it down, at least with OS X. Probably be fine in linux, but ideneb is more fun, I hear it’s against apple’s EULA, but I never read that, just clicked “accept”.

Update
Thought I got the touchpad hooked up right, might of killed the touchpad some how. Might have to buy a upper case/touchpad for aspire one on ebay. I’ll probably end up selling it after I fix it, will put default distro on it though. Might want to replace internal drive too before selling. Or maybe then I’ll keep it.

Update
Just going to sale each part by its self and as is. Changed my mind, going to sale the whole thing together as is.

Boxee kicks ass

From Boxee Setup
From Boxee Setup

Put xubuntu and boxee on my MSI Wind Nettop 100, plays 720p perfectly fine, at least everything I tried, tv doesn’t do 1080p, does 1080i though. There’s a bug in boxee, it crashes sometimes when playing an audio file, really annoying. Oh yeah put the boxee remote app on iPod touch, and changed wireless N router to mixed mode, so I can use iPod touch with boxee. Also bought a D-Link gigabyte switch, so I can have linkstation and MSI Wind Nettop 100 connected by gigabyte speeds. That came yesterday too, and works fine. It has a rebate according to amazon, but to lazy to fill that out, don’t care about rebate.

EyeTV Hybrid works in linux

March 13th, 2009 admin Comments off

FInally got my EyeTV Hybrid to work in linux, on netbook, only computer with linux on it right now, will have another one soon. Doing dmesg, said Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950, and also said 980 for the product ID, not really sure why. Finally decided to search google for “linux hauppauge wintv hvr 950″, and found these instructions. Well it found some other instructions, which had a comment to that link, that is better because you don’t need mythtv. Don’t want to install mythtv, was doing it to see if the card would work in linux.

Stupid google ads or Safari 4 beta

March 8th, 2009 admin Comments off

stupid_googleads

Was wondering why I’ve been getting ads like the above, so I opened firefox, and that x has some javascript “javascript:nop();”, well I finally got an ad like that in firefox, except it actually displayed the ad, rather then a x, its an ad with javascript, with little arrow things to scroll through em. Looks like google either needs to update there code, or apple needs to fix Safari’s 4 javascript engine, or maybe both. Well most people that visit this site probably aren’t using Safari 4 beta, so it doesn’t really matter.

Got my subwoofer today, seems to work fine. Haven’t messed with it much, had volume turned up and was playing battlefield bad company, and scared Tonka into my lap. Damn might not be able to use my subwoofer, scares dog. Liking the beta of Safari 4

February 24th, 2009 admin Comments off

Downloaded the beta of Safari 4 earlier, pretty nice. I’m liking the Top Sites, also like the speed. Still getting use to the tabs being at the top. 1password works after following instructions on their forum, oh yeah I didn’t have to edit plist file. I should of looked in View Customize toolbar before updating to beta, might not of needed to update to beta… Google gears doesn’t seem to work, maybe I need to reinstall it or something.

Damn just bought 1 TB SATA drive for $60

January 31st, 2009 admin Comments off

Or about $70 after 2 day delivery. Bought it from mwave.com, thanks to uncle for telling me about it. Going to put it in my Icy Dock enclosure, pretty sure it supports 1 TB drives. Also bought a IDE and SATA to USB adapter from amazon.com. So I will be able to transfer data from current drive in enclosure to the new drive.

SAMSUNG 1TB HD103UI SATA 5400RPM 32MB (Bare drive) $60

Sabrent USB-DSC5 Serial ATA or IDE 2.5-/3.5-Inch to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power Supply $20

Update
Was cancelled because of a price error, got coupon, pretty sure coupon is tied to my account, so you can’t use it.

Thank you for placing an order with mwave.com. It is with our deepest apologies that we notify you of a pricing error that occurred on our web site over this past weekend. The price for the Samsung hard drive that is included in your recent order, was unfortunately advertised in error due to a vendor miscommunication.

Unfortunately all orders placed for this item, are regretfully being canceled, as our vendor is unable to fulfill the stock or price for this item. The item has been removed from our site, and any payments that have been processed by our automated payment services are being returned immediately. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. It truly was an honest mistake, and mwave is deeply concerned about the situation.

All customers who placed an order for this item, will receive a $20 OFF coupon for any future purchase with mwave, as a token of our appreciation of your understanding. The following coupon code will be activated for your account on file with us by the end of the day.

Tried ordering a different drive, applied coupon, drive said it had free shipping, google checkout had no free shipping option, so didn’t place order. Perhaps you can only get one discount, in that case, guess I won’t get a hard drive.

Update
Bought the drive using debit card and their checkout system. Bought the HITACHI 1TB 0A38016 SATA300 7200RPM 16MB hdt721010sla360(Bare drive) for $74.64 after coupon, and shipping is free.

Macs Averaging Twice the Price of PCs

August 7th, 2008 admin Comments off

What a useless false article, surprised google news links to it. I didn’t pay over $1,000 for my mac, I payed about $599. Pathetic article, don’t listen to morons, that don’t know shit. Mac’s may be expensive, but I’m glad that I won’t need to purchase another computer for sometime. The new windows vista OS, makes older computers useless, you will either have to stay with xp, or use linux, I’d personally be using linux on a normal pc. My mom’ s laptop can’t run windows vista, glad it can’t, that means I don’t have to be the one fixing it, though even if it could she probably wouldn’t upgrade it. She isn’t even done paying it off, and it can’t run the latest winblows OS.

Older ppc mac’s can run leopard, my uncles old iBook could run leopard, if I didn’t sell it. The person that bought it, might of put leopard on it. If the next version of OS X, still supports ppc macs, then that tells you something about apple. Apple likes to support their systems for a long time, non like microshit. Don’t forgot, microsoft has to lie to get people to like vista, they tell them that the OS their showing them is new, when its the crappy vista, they should mention how much the PC was, that is capable of running such a bloated OS. Well the price for new systems might of went down.

Just think about all the people who bought a windows computer a year before vista came out, and it can’t run vista. So their year old PC, can’t run the latest pathetic OS by microshit. Now do the world a favor, and stop buying windows PCS, buy a linux PC, or a mac. Or don’t buy a computer at all.

Oh yeah my uncle is still using a first generation macbook, and it runs leopard fine. Not having to buy a new computer as often, results in you saving money in the long run, and therefore you can buy a quality product, rather then a piece of shit. Ahh my uncle got his macbook in 2006. Now lets see how long he waits, until he buys a new one.

I got my mac mini almost a year ago, the anniversary is coming up in September.

Randy Pausch is gone

July 25th, 2008 admin Comments off

I didn’t know he died today, wish google never put that on their homepage. Not watching the video, don’t want to think about it. He wrote a good book, yet now he’s gone, because we spend all our money on useless war’s, instead of cures for cancer. I’ll probably die of a heart attack though.

Argh being tired = many typos or wrong words. That’s probably more how I’ll die, I’ll just never wake up.
