Sent zBoost YX300 back to amazon

June 27th, 2009 admin Comments off

The thing doesn’t work as advertised, messed with it all last night, and never got it to work a foot away. No point in wasting anymore time with it, so sent it back to amazon. Easy to send stuff back to amazon, they pay the shipping too. Selected refund, guessing they all do the same thing. Good reviews on amazon must of been written by the people who made it, or they paid people to write good reviews, checkout mturk.com, you can get paid to write good reviews on amazon… The thing isn’t worth 60 or 70 bucks, maybe 20 bucks..

Vitelity rocks

May 20th, 2009 admin 1 comment

Signed up for vitelity earlier today, mainly so I can mess around with asterisk. I really like their customer site, under support they have all the settings you need to get asterisk working. I’m using ubuntu with freepbx. Uncle set me a link to this script, which install everything you need. That’s for an old version of ubuntu but it still works. Using my cell phone with asterisk works fine for me, using a Nokia E63, already has SIP compatibilities built in. Might switch our home number to vitelity, will talk to mom about it later. Bought a Linksys VOIP SPA2102 SIP ATA Adapter Sunrocket UNLOCKED on ebay, guess if I don’t switch her over, I can buy a cheap phone to plug into it. Only bad thing about the GE 28021EE1 on frys.com is the shipping is more then the phone, shipping is $8, phone is only $4.99, not sure if they shipped uncle’s phone yet… Oh yeah and frys.com charges tax, at least in my state. Probably better off buying a V-Tech CS5111 5.8GHz Cordless Phone from amazon.

$199 Acer 1gb Netbook w/ 120gb Hard Drive

May 18th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just got an email from compusa saying they have Acer 1GB Netbook w/ 120GB Hard Drive for $199. Kind of got ripped of, to bad I can’t cancel amazon order. Will have to send it back when it arrives. Guess the screen is smaller, still think I’ll send Aspire one that I bought on amazon back without opening it. Changed my mind, after I ordered it, never really wanted it that bad. Rather have my money back. Next time I’ll select three day shipping, then maybe I can cancel the order, if I change my mind…

Update
Emailed amazon to see if its possible to cancel anyways, should of emailed them last night.

ASUS Eee PC 901

May 17th, 2009 admin Comments off

Thinking about buying an ASUS Eee PC 901, or some other netbook with linux. Had aspire one, but that one had small SSD low ram, wasn’t worth it. Now there cheaper and better, Eee PC 901 even has a better battery then my aspire one had. Would be nice to have bigger screen then touch to browse web while watching tv, and a full featured browser. Maybe apple will release a new iPod touch with bigger screen… Probably not anytime soon. I think I rather buy a netbook from amazon, easy return policy, fast free two day shipping. Depends if ubuntu will run on this without any problems, need to look into that. Ubuntu netbook page. Hmm looks like the HP works pretty good on it. Wait that HP model that works, can’t even find it. But the 1000 that HP lists on site has a sound bug. Doesn’t look to hard to fix, HP mini has real HD and bigger screen then the Eee PC 901. Hmm strange their site says different then what amazon has… Pass on HP mini, want one that comes with 6 cell battery. Hmm maybe this aspire one.

Update
Bought Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook – 6 Cell Battery instead of ASUS Eee PC 901. Will put ubuntu on it, once I get it. Same price that I payed for old aspire one that had crappy SSD drive, this one has a real hard drive. Hmm maybe I should of bought that newegg DIY bundle instead, ahh well I can buy that next month. haha. Or send netbook back and buy it. Don’t want that bundle, rather get a quad core processor, if I get AMD. So I’d have to manually pick everything out. Ahh well I have 30 days to try netbook out, if I don’t like it I can send it back.

Update
If I get it and it doesn’t work, or ubuntu is to much of a pain to get working on it, I’m going to send it back to amazon and get refund, have 30 days. Also I’ve read that acer’s supports sucks, and to get an rma is a pain, also heard from somebody else that somebody they know has an acer and they break down a lot. Must of got lucky with last Aspire One, good thing I sold it on ebay.

Decent newegg bundle

May 16th, 2009 admin Comments off

Newegg has a DIY bundle for $330 or $295 after rebates. I like the case they put in that bundle, and I like the fact that they put a bundle together with pretty much everything you need. Well you might need CD drive, I have plenty of those. Not really needed anymore, can boot ubuntu from USB drive. But I do have a spare DVD burner in enclosure that I’d put in it, if I bought that bundle. Not sure if I should buy it or not, if there’s no tax maybe. With shipping its $354.02. Hmm probably no tax, just $24 shipping. Guess turning the rebates in might be worth it to get shipping money back, if you ever get rebates back. Decent price for a custom built machine with no windows on it.

I could always get a dell laptop with ubuntu on it, not this month though, would want to configure it, add more ram, better processor, better battery, and bluetooth. Not sure if I want new desktop or laptop or wait and get iMac. Or I could get a new mac mini, not sure if the “improvements” are much of an improvement over the mac mini I have. Not sure if I’d notice anything, maybe if they start offering 4 GB of ram with $599 one.

Update
Still haven’t decided, might buy the bundle though, as newegg accepts paypal now.

Update
Not buying bundle. Might buy an iMac from newegg in future though, no tax is nice.

Logitech Harmony 550

May 13th, 2009 admin Comments off

Got a refurbished Logitech Harmony 550 remote today, ordered it from amazon. Hmm must of been on sale when I bought it, I got it for $49.99, one day shipping is only $3.99 if prime member, total after tax and shipping was a little less then $59.99. Nice only having one remote instead of three, it can also control xbox 360. Easy to setup, just plug it into your computer by USB, and install their software, you just need to know the model numbers of all your stuff. Well the 360 doesn’t really have a model number, so you just put Xbox 360 in for it. You can get the Logitech Harmony 510 for $49.97, but I rather have the refurbished 550 for $49.99 at the time I bought it.

Bought bluetooth GPS receiver

April 24th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought a Amod ABG 108 Bluetooth GPS Receiver from semsons.com. Was $26.99 after shipping and added the AC charger. Found the name of them on amazon, they sell stuff on amazon too, not that bluetooth GPS receiver, but more expensive ones. Saw it on ebay, but not worth it, cause you can’t get AC charger, and probably cheaper from them anyways. Should work with my phone, they even have instructions on their site.

screenshot0009

Ahh there we go sent the pdf instructions to phone.

Bought DSTTi

April 21st, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought a DSTTi card from echostore.com. Probably could of got it cheaper somewhere else or different card for cheaper, but echo store probably has faster shipping. Also payed by paypal, which is nice. Got a 2 GB microsd card from them too. Dealextreme has the DSTTi for cheaper, but slow shipping, uncle ordered an R4 from them once, took like 2 weeks or something, don’t want to wait that long.

Update
Cancelled the order, and they cancelled it really fast. To paranoid about how long paypal takes to show the money they took out of my bank. I will definitely consider echostore.com in the future, very fast communication.

Bought Dragon Nintendo DSi System 18 in 1 Starter Travel Kit

April 20th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought Dragon Nintendo DSi System 18 in 1 Starter Travel Kit from ebay. Didn’t have to pay tax or shipping, so cheaper then amazon, would of had to pay tax for any starter kit from amazon, that one isn’t on amazon anyways. I think I like what this 18 in one starter kit comes with compared to the one on amazon (after tax it’d be more. ahh saved a $1.) anyways. Would be nice if they had more pics though, other then the box. I’ll be sure to take some pics with my DSi though once I get it.

Damn target doesn’t sell EZIP bike at store

April 18th, 2009 admin Comments off

They only sell it online, found it on amazon, but on the right says you can order from target. To bad you can’t buy at the target store, says on page online only. Maybe I’ll go look at bikes tomorrow at local stores. Should probably look local first, doubt I’ll find a cheaper price then that.

Looks like walmart has an EZIP looks the same, has same features, for $299. And is at “limited stores”, would have to call to find out, which sucks. Wonder how much shipping would be, can’t you have em ship it to a walmart for free or something? and go pick it up? Shipping is $29.97, no option to ship to local walmart, still cheaper then everywhere else… So its $325.01 after tax. Amazon charges me tax too, so even after the shipping, if I order online, walmart is cheapest. Might be able to get it at local walmart. Hopefully I can. If I get it, I’ll eventually buy another battery for it, so I can go farther.

Update
Walmart I went to didn’t have it, or I didn’t see it. Not sure if I’ll get one or not. Might as well think about it until it snows, and then decide not to get one, because its snowing. Hmm I should use that same thinking process before buying anything, that way I won’t ever buy anything. Same with electronics, power might go out, so no point in those, might become a bum, electronics won’t do me any good then. Don’t need food, cause I’ll die eventually anyways, so why waste valuable paper on food, when your going to die anyways?

Bought some shipping labels

April 7th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought some Maco shipping labels. Should be a lot easier then taping the damn labels. Don’t need a scale yet, but might eventually. Only two DVI adapters, will take sometime to sell HDMI adapters.

Nintendo DSi in stores now…

April 6th, 2009 admin Comments off

No shit Nintendo, you should of emailed me that yesterday when it came out. Wait they don’t work Sunday, but release new product on Sunday… Oh yeah mine shipped earlier today from amazon, should get it tomorrow. No need to pay for one day shipping if you live close to Seattle.

The Nintendo DSi site has more stuff on it now. Cool free 1,000 credits, if I connect it before October 5th 2009.

*Important Note* If you wish to play online games with the Nintendo DSi, you need to have your router set to WEP security.

Fuck you Nintendo. Maybe I’ll just send it back or resale on ebay, still can’t play online, unless I want to disable or downgrade security, might as well just disable it. That quote is from support site. So I guess I can access the shop channel and stuff, but can’t play any games online. Did these things sell out yet? Cause then I can make a profit on ebay from it. Ahh well I’ll just keep it, and not play any games online.

No WPA for normal DS games because of backwards compatibility.

From a comment here. So I guess Nintendo DSi only games maybe, if there are ever any. Then Nintendo will need to update support site, as it says “games”. So I guess any online games in shop channel can’t be played online, according to Nintendo. Probably aren’t very many games in shop channel yet anyways.

M3 Simply probably doesn’t work anymore, but I can use the DS Download Play service to try new games, get the Nintendo channel for Wii and it has demos for the DS, that it can send to DS systems, and DSi.

Lowered price of Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapters

April 5th, 2009 admin Comments off

Now that I know how much shipping is, I lowered the price to $20.99. Buy em while you can on ebay. Should get Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapters sometime next week, will sell those for the same. Or maybe a buck less.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapters $20.99 + free shipping

Bought Brother HL-2140 Personal Laser Printer

April 4th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought a Brother HL-2140 Personal Laser Printer from amazon. Will come in handy when printing shipping labels and who knows what else, maybe some black and white porn. Price seemed to high for ink for my old printer, and toners for that cost less then $40 depending on which one you buy. Guess I’m done buying stuff this month. Should get it on the 8th, which is also when I’ll be getting DSi and seagate replacement HD.

Update
Damn sister’s printer works, didn’t know that. Ahh well, laser printers are better then inkjet printers. Can’t cancel it, cause right after I ordered it, it said shipping soon. Shouldn’t of selected free two day shipping. At least now I’ll have my own printer.

Sold some stuff on ebay.

April 4th, 2009 admin Comments off

One of my Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapters sold on ebay for $21.99 buy it now, free shipping. Shipping was added to the price. Also my Acer Aspire One sold for $152.52. Put the rest of my Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapters on ebay, don’t want to use craigslist, then you have to either meet em somewhere, or have them come to your house, rather ship it.

Bought 10 mini display port to DVI adapters

March 30th, 2009 admin 1 comment

Just bought 10 mini display port to DVI adapters from monoprice.com, plan on reselling em. Will probably resell them on ebay, if that doesn’t work, I’ll try craigslist. Craigslist might be better anyways, its free and no shipping fees.

Bought MSI Wind Nettop 100 Desktop PC Barebone

March 13th, 2009 admin Comments off

Just bought a MSI Wind Nettop 100 Desktop PC (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Dual Core N330 Processor, Barebone) Black from amazon.com, not sure what I’ll do with it yet. I wonder if it could record HD, probably not. Don’t even know if my USB eyetv card works in linux. Going to plug it into netbook, and see what linux sees it as. Also bought 2 GB of ram, the max it can have. Already have hard drive, have CD drives, won’t be putting any CD drives in it though. Might put xubuntu on it, or maybe mythbuntu, to see if it can handle HD. Should get it all on the 17th, free two day shipping for prime members.

Had to buy subwoofer

February 22nd, 2009 admin Comments off

I bought a receiver at Huppins, and got some free speakers from my grandpa, but the subwoofer isn’t powered, so won’t work for me. I got a Sony STR-DG520 for $157.67 after tax, before tax it was $145. According to them, that is what they paid for it, last one on the shelf, and discontinued, they aren’t getting anymore, I like buying the stuff on the shelf, can get discount. So that was cheaper then amazon, amazon has tax for me too. Oh yeah had to buy optical cable, well actually ordered yesterday, as I knew I was getting speakers and receiver. HDMI out is only for the stuff that is plugged in by HDMI, as far as I can tell, it truly is only “pass through”, so component won’t go out of the HDMI, assume I’d have to plug component into component out, and that’d be a pain, easier solution, hook everything up to TV, and then hook optical out on TV to receiver, well I’ll keep 360 hooked up to it. So the receiver will always be on the same input, and will have to change input on TV. Glad I didn’t pay over $200 for receiver, and then have to buy subwoofer, looks like total paid will be around $200.

I bought the Sony SA-W2500 100 Watt Subwoofer, should be good enough. Not sold directly by amazon, which kind of sucks. Was thinking about the Yamaha YST-SW216BL, but everybody seems to want over $20 for shipping. Not paying over $20 for shipping.

The Sony Subwoofer should work right? Cause receiver was made by sony too, so they should hopefully play nicely together. Speakers aren’t by Sony though.

Update
Probably should of bought subwoofer from sonystlye.com, might not get it till March 3rd, couldn’t buy directly from amazon.

Damn just bought 1 TB SATA drive for $60

January 31st, 2009 admin Comments off

Or about $70 after 2 day delivery. Bought it from mwave.com, thanks to uncle for telling me about it. Going to put it in my Icy Dock enclosure, pretty sure it supports 1 TB drives. Also bought a IDE and SATA to USB adapter from amazon.com. So I will be able to transfer data from current drive in enclosure to the new drive.

SAMSUNG 1TB HD103UI SATA 5400RPM 32MB (Bare drive) $60

Sabrent USB-DSC5 Serial ATA or IDE 2.5-/3.5-Inch to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power Supply $20

Update
Was cancelled because of a price error, got coupon, pretty sure coupon is tied to my account, so you can’t use it.

Thank you for placing an order with mwave.com. It is with our deepest apologies that we notify you of a pricing error that occurred on our web site over this past weekend. The price for the Samsung hard drive that is included in your recent order, was unfortunately advertised in error due to a vendor miscommunication.

Unfortunately all orders placed for this item, are regretfully being canceled, as our vendor is unable to fulfill the stock or price for this item. The item has been removed from our site, and any payments that have been processed by our automated payment services are being returned immediately. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. It truly was an honest mistake, and mwave is deeply concerned about the situation.

All customers who placed an order for this item, will receive a $20 OFF coupon for any future purchase with mwave, as a token of our appreciation of your understanding. The following coupon code will be activated for your account on file with us by the end of the day.

Tried ordering a different drive, applied coupon, drive said it had free shipping, google checkout had no free shipping option, so didn’t place order. Perhaps you can only get one discount, in that case, guess I won’t get a hard drive.

Update
Bought the drive using debit card and their checkout system. Bought the HITACHI 1TB 0A38016 SATA300 7200RPM 16MB hdt721010sla360(Bare drive) for $74.64 after coupon, and shipping is free.

Bought a new hard drive for mac mini

June 9th, 2008 admin Comments off

Just bought a new hard drive for my mac mini, bought it on ebay, free shipping and no tax. Bought a NEW Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 HTS722016K9SA00 Hard Drive. Argh I’m an idiot, should of bought it directly from buy.com, rather then their ebay store. Would of saved $10, if I payed by google checkout. Guess I’ll buy some crucial ram directly from buy.com, and save $10. Need the $10 in July, for the iPod touch 2.0 firmware. Oh yeah I also bought an Iron Man shirt on amazon.

Why does paypal and google charge $1.00? Now I only have $9.58, not enough for the update. Damn you paypal and google.
